Joleen James is a good writer, and I've enjoyed some of her other books, but this story just didn't do anything for me. I was just getting into the story and it ended. I thought it was way too abrupt and strange. I found it unbelievable that anyone would be held hostage and then turn around and have sex with him a few minutes later. The ending was pretty weird. The story needed to be expanded and have more substance to it. I got it free, so I guess I'm not out anything but a few minutes time.Product details

What a great short story! Hostage Heart is the perfect name for a story which holds your attention hostage after just the first page. Looking forward to more from this author.
Would have been a great short story. Well written, it drew me in quickly and didn't feel glossed over, even though it was really short. The ending, however, was lame. Short romantic stories should have happy endings, nothing poignant or thoughtful.
I loved Hostage Heart! I am definately excited to see what Joleen James writes next. I love a good beach read, and my only regret is that I wish the story was longer!
Krista and James meet in the most difficult of circumstances. Krista comes to her long time family cottage to mourn her mother and try to make sense of the issues in her life. Disillusioned and needing to move on, she is taken hostage by James, a man more desperate than she is. This is a short story about how people in horrible situations choose the path ahead.In their time together James and Krista face hard truths and both make choices. A challenging and memorable short story. Engaging from beginning to end.
It was too short... could have been much longer... grabs your attention right away... easy to read...
I was so disappointed! Right before this I read "Cowboy I'm Yours" which I loved. I thought it was one of the best romance novels I'd ever read. "Hostage Heart" left me depressed, dejected, unfulfilled and a little angry. It was good as far as it went but I need for Joleen to write a complete follow-up novel about Kristi and James with a good ending. Please do that and I will read all your books and give reviews. I will also give one for "Cowboy I'm Yours"
This is a decent easy breezy read for when you have a small window of time to kill. The story was interesting enough to keep me reading but it didn't really have anything that will linger on my mind. The characters have what seems like just a few mins of conversation before they fall right into your cliche romance novel sweet nothings and "the earth moved"--esque sexy time. No real thriller moments though, for being about a woman held hostage in her own home.
